Douglas Wright Holland was born on September 30, 1966, in Washington, D.C. He received his B.A. from Davidson College in 1987 and an M.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990 douglas wright holland knight. In 1995, he co-founded the online magazine Slate and served as its editor-in-chief until 2000.

Douglas Wright Holland was born on August 9, 1893, in Evansville, Indiana. He enlisted in the United States Army on March 23, 1917, and served in the European Theater of Operations during World War I. After the war, Douglas returned to Evansville and worked as a machinist. On November 12, 1936, he married Virginia Lisle Hanks in Evansville. Douglas died on May 1, 1976, and Virginia survived him by several years.

Douglas Wright Holland is a 20-year-old Army veteran who has been drafted twice. The first time was in 2006, when he was just 17 years old. As a veteran, Wright Holland is eligible to serve in the National Guard and reserves. Holland has written numerous books on these topics, including The Battle of Montrécourt (1983), which won the prestigious Bancroft Prize. He has also been a visiting professor at several universities around the world, including Yale University and the University of Cambridge. In 2014 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
