Step 1: Order a cloud server or dedicated server
To use Plesk, you need a cloud server or a dedicated server. You can order one from any hosting provider and then sign up for our service. Once your account is activated, you will be able to login to Plesk and start configuring it.
Plesk has many different modules, but they are all categorized under five tabs: Websites & Domains > Tools & Utilities > Databases > Settings > User Management.
In the first tab (Websites & Domains), you can add new domains and set their email settings, domain nameservers, etc. The second tab (Tools & Utilities) includes features like remote file manager, DNS records management, SSL certificates installation and Domain Keys signing.
The third tab (Databases) includes features like MySQL databases administration, PostgreSQL databases administration and SQLite databases administration.
The fourth tab (Settings) lets you change basic settings of Plesk such as time zone and language. The last tab (User Management) enables you to assign administrative privileges to other users on the system.
Step 2: Log into cPanel and install Plesk
Log into cPanel and click on Install at the top right of your screen. Select Softaculous Auto Installer and scroll down until you see Plesk. Click on it, then click on Install Now.
You will be asked for a username and password. Enter the details that were supplied by your hosting company when they configured Plesk for you. After clicking Next, wait while the installation process runs through (this can take up to 10 minutes). When finished, click Done to complete installation.
Step 3: Configure your domain
Configure your domain you need to set up your DNS settings with your hosting provider before you can create a new website for your business.
Select Domain & Hosting from the menu on the left-hand side of your control panel and then choose Manage Domains.
1. Click on Add New Domain and enter all of the necessary information, including: domain name, username, password, and email address. When finished, click Save Domain.
2. Now that your domain has been saved, go back to the Manage Domains page by clicking on it again in the menu on the left-hand side of your control panel or by selecting it under Domain & Hosting.
3. Next click Edit next to your newly created domain’s name. Fill out any missing details like Nameservers or mailboxes and when finished click Save Changes. If you have already created an email account within Plesk, then proceed to the following step.
Step 4: Configure Mail
This section provides a basic overview of how to configure mail for your domain within Plesk Panel. This includes: configuring mailboxes, creating mail aliases, and setting up mail forwarding rules. To configure mail for your domain, click on Mail under Other Services tab on the right side of your screen.
You should see a list of options including Mailbox Settings and Forwarding. Click on Mailbox Settings to begin configuring it.
On the left panel of your screen you will see three tabs: Mailboxes, Aliases, and Forwarding Rules. Use these tabs to set up each type of configuration. For example, if you want to create an alias for someone’s email address, you would use Aliases tab.
Step 5: Install WordPress with Softaculous
In order to install WordPress on your new Plesk VPS server, you need to log into cPanel and use Softaculous. Click on WordPress and then click Install. Follow the instructions and fill out all of the information that is required to install WordPress. It will take a few minutes for Softaculous to complete installation of WordPress.
Once done, WordPress will be installed and running on your site. Now it’s time to start customizing it with themes, plugins and content! To customize WordPress, first go to Appearance -> Themes and activate a theme by clicking on Activate.
For example, you can choose from thousands of free themes or search for one from the marketplace (that way, you’ll have more than just one theme).
Next head over to Plugins and activate whichever ones are relevant or desired. You can even disable some so they’re not loading unnecessarily at any point in time. Finally upload any photos or text content onto your blog!
